Impulse: My Six Hour Csound Catalog Project

Hello again,

The attached audio is the result of my Six Hour Csound Catalog project. We were tasked to produce a piece using only renderings of instruments found in the Csound Catalog. I used instruments created by Josep M. Comajuncosas, Hans Mikelson, and John-Phillip Gather. All instruments were rendered in QuteCsound, normalized and tapered with Peak Pro 6, made into sample-instruments using Native Instruments' Battery and Kontakt, and finally sequenced and processed using Logic Studio 8.

The piece is called Impulse. I hope you enjoy it.

Best,

Andrew Kim

Charles at Night - Drums and Different Cannons #5 (by John ffitch)

Staying at a hotel near Charles de Gaulle airport in the summer of 2002, I was struck by the sound of the traffic on the A1 motorway; it was loud and persistant, and enhanced by the recent rain storm. About 4am I recorded a series of samples.

Charles at Night uses one of these samples, and is modified with some resonant filters whose frequency and bandwidth are controlled by the Henon equation.

The piece is somewhat loud and liable to give the listener a headache. It however what I wanted.
