Overview

A significant portion of the research in music therapy and music psychology has to do with administering survey data collected before, after, and sometimes during various musical stimuli. These simple measures are complicated by limitless varioables in stimuli selection, context of playback, specific values assigned to levels on a scale, control groups, variable groups, etc.

This interface allows the researcher to establish parameters such as what pieces of music are able to be selected by the subject, the specific instructions to appear in the window that the subject will see, as well as the titles and number of ranked buttons that the subject will be able to select from to communicate a selection to be recorded as data.

This information is graphed in real-time. There are also various "write" capabilities that allow the researcher to collect data concisely as multiple research trials are administered.

Key Features

The interface is shown as a screenshot on a separate page. Jump to that page HERE.

[+] There are two window's the researchers window (screenshot one) and the subject's window (screenshot two)

[+] The graph that is produced over time as the subject hits various buttons is prevalent in the first screenshot.

[+] The "audio playback" window, in both the researcher's window and the subject's window, shows a clock that coincides directly with the duration that an audiofile is being played back.

[+] When a subject hits a button two pieces of data are sent, the exact time that the button was hit (as shown on the audio playback clock) as well as which button was hit. When the session is written out as a data file, a function available under the drop-down menu labeled "open", both time and rank data is sent for each pressing.
