Sun Rising

I was a bit resilient about posting my first ever Csound composition on the podcast here, but then I decided it might be a fun way to make an appearance on this website and introduce myself to the community. In posing excuses for the simplicity of my composition, I'll be hiding behind the fact that I am still a total newb with this program. Cool. Putting that aside, I wrote the song with some simple instruments I made out of basic oscilator opcodes, and I played around with filters and envelopes. I figured out that I could generate a square waveshape using an f table with a table size of 2, which is how the tiny bell sound came about. In general, I kept things simple and pretty. So without further ado, here's the product of 5 weeks of head scratching and plundering through Dr. Boulanger's etudes. Hope you enjoy.

Nice piece!

Very nice 1st piece aerojet. The composition is well crafted (albeit simple) and the tiny bell is good.

I am glad you overcame your resistance to posting here. I think reticence to post things here is pretty natural; the Csound gurus are so far ahead of we beginners that it is pretty intimidating. And yes, even though I have been playing around with Csound off and on for a couple years now, I still consider myself a beginner.

Enjoy your Csound exploration!

Actually, I prefer this to a whole lot of the csound compositions I've heard largely because of its simplicity and a (seemingly) related innocence in the voice of it. I might have no idea what I'm talking about, but I like it.
