How to use Csound APIs?

I want to use CSound in my own C++ applications so how can I call the CSound APIs. So far I know I need CSound library but how can I get CSound library? Do I need CSound DLL as well?

Many thanks.

BTW I am working with Microsoft VC++ 6.0 on Windows XP

Just install Csound

If you install (or have installed) the Csound package, you should automatically get the library (csound32.dll.5.1 or csound64.dll.5.1 depending on whether you have the floats or doubles version). Csound.exe itself just invokes the library.

Many thanks for your answer.

Many thanks for your answer. .

Yes,I have installed the Csound package but the problem is other users want to use the executable file I compiled in my computer using MSVC.

Obviously they don't want to install Csound package and they just want to successfully run the executable file to control csound csd file. So I can't call Csound.exe in my programme I have to call Csound APIs,am I correctly understanding? I don't want to make my C++ programme depend on Csound package.
How to solve it?

Cheers!

Sorry, I misunderstood.

As I don't run Windows, I can't be of detailed help, but yes you'll have to include the Csound library (and maybe some others) with your program. I don't know how you make them user-installable under Windows, though.

On my Linux machine I see the csound library itself, plus a 'csound' sub-folder (in the same folder as the library) that holds all the plug-ins that csound uses. As many (most?) opcodes are now plug-ins a lot of that (but not all, depending on what your program needs) would have to be included.

I'd imagine the organization is similar under Windows, but I don't know where dlls are kept. Someone more familiar with the OS will have to take you further...
