how setup and compiling csound5 and csound 5gui in linux ubuntu studio 8.10

hai Iam tony ussualy I Using Csound in window xp OS , now I am change OS to ubuntu intrepid 8.10 and ubuntu studio 8.10. I am tottaly newbe in linux area. I need some information from you all how I cant settup and compiling csound5 in ubuntu intrepid 8.10 and ubuntu studio 8.10. thanks you |

Re: installing Csound on Ubuntu
There is a Debian package for Csound that I believe can be installed on Ubuntu as well. (This is not my area of expertise though).
Read through this information about the Ubuntu package manager and see if there is a Csound package available via Synaptic on your system.

If you don't see one, then you may need to point Synaptic to a different package repository that does contain Csound (probably the main Debian repository?).
Hopefully, someone who knows more about Ubuntu will come along and provide you with more details than I am able to.
