Amplitudes goint to zero

Hello,

I made an instrument transposing input sounds with pvscale. I'm having a problem now that some input sounds sets amplitudes to zero for the rest of the file. The log show no amps out of range, but the zero becomes a loud click during playback, followed by silence.

I can't see why these particular sounds should be different from those who work fine. They all sound well in quicktime. They are 24-bit stereo, while my orchestra is 16-bit, but I use many other 24-bit inputs without problems. They are short and percussive, but other equally percussive sounds work well with proper FFT settings. The problem sounds may contain more high frequencies than others, as they are made from breaking glass.

Do you have some ideas how I could go through these sounds and make them work as inputs?

Best,
Ruben

Just a wild guess

Is it possible that you're maxing out your computer's audio chain? This is what happens on my machine [which does not have the same OS as yours (:-/)] if I try to drive it too hard from Csound. It's not directly Csound's fault -- it's just the way the OS reacts to audio arriving late due to overloading. It may be a peculiarity of this one OS, as my Linux machine seems to go into stutter mode rather than going completely silent, but it might be a possibility. Pvsanal and crew must have a pretty high computation cost.

Have you some kind of real-time load-monitor app that can show you if the CPU is going into 100% usage?
